About company:

We specialise in selling used 4×4 vehicles. We are a family run business with four generations having run Walton Motors since 1955.

Our original site in Walton on Thames (hence the name) was opened in 1955 and we moved to Cranleigh 10 years ago.

For peace of mind when purchasing a used 4×4 vehicle from Walton Motors, all our vehicles prior to collection are serviced, fully MoT’d by an independent garage and we ourselves carry out a 20 point check on all our vehicles. Also all vehicles are fully valeted, AA & RAC inspections are fully welcome and any essential repairs that may be found are rectified free of charge by ourselves prior to collection.

  1. Bought discovery 3 from waltons 12 month warranty included (WORTH NOTHING). Major leak into cabin ( needed new windscreen) Air compressor failure. Parking sensors not working. Radio SatNav stopped working. Bad noise from transimission. All should be covered under warranty. No one returns my calls. I’ve constantly rung since I bought the car in June. STAY AWAY!!!!!

  2. Purchase of a used Land Rover Discovery 2. From the very start Walton Motors (Walton 4×4) could not have been more helpful. I was carless (having been sold a dangerously unroadworthy vehicle by another dealer), and very concerned that I could be facing a 250 mile round trip to view yet another wreck. I was quickly assured that Waltons vehicles were exactly as described on their web-page. I was also assured that the vehicle would be serviced and come with a brand new MOT. Any item which was flagged -up on the MOT would be dealt with. (In my case a steering box was replaced). This assurance, plus a 12 month warranty gave me the confidence to buy over the phone!!! I had owned 2 Discovery 2’s previously, and so, if the car was as described, I knew what I was getting. Walton agreed to a very competitively priced Waxoyling of the vehicle (after the MOT); and an extremely fair price for delivery of the vehicle to Somerset. A family crisis intervened and a request for ASAP delivery of the vehicle was immediately accommodated, with it arriving lunchtime on the following day. The Discovery then pased the road-test from hell (400+ miles on a very hot day, with traffic queuing or crawling for long periods) with flying colours. I could not in any way fault their description of the vehicle (spot on), or it’s preparation and valeting. Throughout the transaction the staff were polite, friendly and courteous, and exhibited a “can do” ethos. The friendly e-mail asking if the car had fully met expectations was a nice touch (giving me time to consider my reply; rather than being put on the spot via a phone call). Would buy from them again? Yes! Would I recommend to others ? Most definitely!!!

  3. My experience of buying a vehicle from Walton Motors has been very poor and I would recommend anyone who is considering buying a car from them to go elsewhere. I travelled some distance to see the car and liked it – I negotiated a price with them that included them doing some repairs on the sunroof, undersealing the chassis and valeting the car. It also had personalised number plates from the previous owner that would be need to be replaced. I agreed to pick up the vehicle a week later. When I picked the vehicle up the repairs had not been completed and the valet had not been done. The repair was less than amateur standard – it was embarrassing. I negotiated a further reduction and took the car. Within 2 weeks the car had broken down on the motorway (could not have been predicted to be fair) and I got the car repaired. Walton Motors agreed to pay for the work, which was great, so I sent them the invoice for them to pay. Despite chasing them up on a number of occasions they ignored me and still haven’t paid it. It took so long for them to sort out the personalised plate that eventually the previous owner got in touch with me by letter to get the matter resolved. He had also repeatedly requested Walton Motors for action / updates but they did nothing. I can’t think of any value they added and I don’t trust them at all. I do have a warranty with the car but I would be reluctant to trust them to do a decent job on any repairs – especially after writing this review. They need to provide some customer service or they will go out of business. Avoid.
